EBSCO offering 7 Scholarship to 2012 ALA Annual Conference

EBSCO offers seven scholarships to librarians attending 2012 ALA Annual Conference

CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) and EBSCO are partnering to offer seven scholarships for librarians to attend the 2012 ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif. The meeting takes place June 21 - 26, 2012 and offers an opportunity for continuing education, meetings and interaction with colleagues.

Each EBSCO scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000. The scholarship money is to be used for conference registration, travel and expenses.

Deadline for entry is Dec. 1, 2011; scholarship recipients will be notified no later than March 1, 2012.  To apply, candidates must complete the application and submit an essay that addresses the following topic: “How will attending this ALA Conference contribute to my professional development?” Essays and applications will be judged by a jury designated by ALA.

3M/NMRT Conference Award 2012

We are excited to announce that members of ALA’s New Members Round Table (NMRT) can apply to receive a grant, sponsored by 3MLibrary Systems, which will cover expenses to attend the ALA Annual Conference, June 21-26, 2012, in Anaheim, CA.

ALA BRASS Gale Cengage Learning Student Travel Award 2012

2012 ALA BRASS Gale Cengage Learning Student Travel award

Are you an aspiring business librarian or do you know someone who is?  Send in your nominations!

Applications for the 2012 Gale Cengage Learning Student Travel are being accepted until January 31, 2012.  Please forward this to your local library school listserv or to any other potential candidates.

The BRASS Gale Cengage Learning Student Travel award is a $1000 cash award given to a student enrolled in an ALA accredited master’s degree program to fund travel to and attendance at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, California and a one-year membership in the Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) of RUSA.  Applicants should have demonstrated interest in a career as a business reference librarian, and a potential to be a leader in the profession as demonstrated by activities that may include (but are not limited to) coursework, internships, jobs, special projects, and publications.
